H. Yalan King, Director
H. Yalan King brings senior management experience spanning non-profit and startup organizations, corporate marketing and the arts to her role as Director of the Mandarin Institute. Prior to joining the Mandarin Institute, Ms. King was co-founder and President of Advocates for Chinese Education (ACE) a non-profit focused on starting Mandarin educational programs in San Francisco’s public schools.
Previously she was Director of Marketing at ContentGuard, a Microsoft/Xerox Corporation spin-off that pioneered Digital Rights Management (DRM) solutions and services to ePublishers. Ms. King earlier held managerial positions in marketing and account management with Xerox Corporation, USA and Xerox Canada, Ltd.
Ms. King serves on task forces and committees with the Committee of 100; the University of California, Berkeley; California State University, Los Angeles; Chinese Consulate SF; the San Francisco Board of Education; the San Francisco Unified School District; the Asia Society; and the California School Board Association. Ms. King holds a Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Systems Design Engineering.
